Russia Issues Arrest Warrant Moscow added a second judge, Sergio Gerardo Ugalde Godinez from the International Criminal Court (ICC), to its list of those it wanted on Wednesday. This came after the ICC had earlier declared that it would try to have President Vladimir Putin arrested on war crimes charges.

Without giving any information on the charges against Judge Sergio Gerardo Ugalde Godinez, a notification on the Russian Interior Ministry’s website stated that Godinez was being sought in relation to a criminal investigation.
Following a similar action in September to seek the arrest of ICC President Piotr Hofmanski, Russia has also issued arrest warrants for several judges as well as ICC prosecutor Karim Khan.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) demanded that Putin be arrested earlier this year for his suspected role in the unauthorized removal and transfer of minors from Ukraine.

On similar grounds, the Hague-based court also issued an arrest order for Maria Lvova-Belova, the Russian president’s commissioner for children’s rights.
Russia has issued arrest warrants for ICC prosecutor Karim Khan and multiple judges, following a similar move in September when they sought the arrest of ICC president Piotr Hofmanski.
Russia, which is not a member of the ICC, insists the warrant against Putin is “void.”
However, because International Criminal Court members must adhere to its rulings, the warrant has limited the Russian leader’s ability to travel abroad.

Putin withheld his participation from the August BRICS conference in South Africa, citing his desire to prevent creating “difficulties for our allies.” He also declined to attend the G20 meeting in India the following month.
